
Selah Movement School of Dance – Terms & Conditions
By enrolling at Selah Movement School of Dance, all parents/guardians and students agree to comply with the following Terms and Conditions. These policies ensure a safe and respectful dance environment.
1. Dance Etiquette.
Arrive 10-15 minutes early.

Students are expected to arrive early to warm up and prepare for class. Students are responsible for warming up before each lesson to help prevent injury.

Late arrivals must wait for the teacher’s permission to join the class.
Come Prepared.

Correct uniform, shoes, and hair.
-
Bring a water bottle.
-
Bring required equipment (e.g., pointe shoes, correction notebook, syllabus).
Show Respect for teachers and classmates.

Wait quietly at the door until invited in.
-
Do not enter the studio if another lesson is in progress.
-
Respect teachers, classmates, and studio spaces.
-
Practice good manners and kindness toward others.
-
No talking or interrupting while the teacher is speaking.
-
No chewing gum (choking hazard).
-
Students are expected to show gratitude by thanking their teacher at the end of their lesson.

If a student needs to leave early, they must curtsy and thank their teacher before leaving.
Zero Tolerance for Bullying or Harassment.

Practice good manners and kindness towards others.
-
Students are expected to treat others the way they wish to be treated, showing respect, patience, and encouragement to their peers.

Bullying, exclusion, intimidation, or unkind behaviour in any form will NOT be tolerated.

All dancers must contribute to a supportive, uplifting environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and welcome.

Any behaviour that makes another student feel unsafe or uncomfortable will be taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from enrolment. Selah Movement School of Dance maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward bullying in any form.
Participate Fully.

Students are expected to try their best.

No sitting down unless instructed.
Mobile Phones.

Phones on silent and left in bags.
-
No phones allowed on the dance floor or during lessons.
Dance Attire and Presentation.

Follow the school’s Dance Attire & Uniform Requirements, see below.*

No arm or neck jewellery, including smart watches (for safety). Small stud earrings are acceptable.

Clean shoes and tidy appearance.
Respect the Space & Equipment.

Do not hang or lean on the ballet barres.
-
No running or rough play in studio spaces.
-
Keep belongings in designated areas.
-
If you are running late, notify the teacher through the WhatsApp Portal and wait for permission before entering the lesson.

Studio doors close 15 minutes after the lesson begins to minimise disruptions.

Students and families waiting in the foyer must remain quiet and respectful while lessons are in progress.
2. Choreography Ownership.
All choreography and music edits remain the intellectual property of Selah Movement School of Dance. They may not be copied, reproduced, or posted online without written permission.
3. Fees & Invoices.

Invoices are issued 2 weeks before the start of the term.

Payment is required in full before lessons commence.*

A $20 late fee per week applies to overdue invoices.
-
Students may be asked to sit out if fees remain unpaid.
-
Repeated late payments may result in suspension or cancellation of enrolment.
-
Payment plans are available upon request and approval.
-
Absences known in advance must be communicated before invoices are issued.*

Adjustments made after invoices are issued will incur a $10 administration fee.
4. Studio Communication.
Families must stay up to date with studio announcements, provided via:

These are the primary communication channels for schedules, updates, and changes to dance lessons.
5. Cancelled Lessons.
If the school cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson will be arranged in the first week of the holidays, or at a weekend.
6. Student Expulsion.
Expulsion may occur at the Principal’s discretion for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms and Conditions.
7. Annual Enrolment Fee.
A non-refundable $35 enrolment and administration fee is payable each year upon enrolment. Students will need to enrol once per year.
8. Refunds & Catch-Up Lessons.

No refunds are given for missed lessons.

Catch-up lessons may be offered within the same term the lesson is missed. Please note that lessons missed at the end of the term cannot be made up, as catch-up opportunities are only available within the current term.

Credits for long-term illness or injury may be offered upon the student’s return at the principal's discretion.
9. Annual Performance Participation.
Selah Movement School of Dance presents an annual performance each year, and all students are invited to participate.
Participation requirements:

Students must sign the Annual Performance Commitment Agreement in Term 3.

Students must maintain strong attendance in lessons and rehearsals.

Students may not withdraw once committed, as this disrupts choreography, costumes, teamwork, and rehearsal consistency. Each dancer’s participation is essential to group formations, safety, and performance quality, so full commitment is required.
Extra Rehearsals & Costume Fees

Costume fees are separate from tuition and are non-refundable.
-
Extra rehearsals may incur additional fees.
-
Families will be notified of dates and costs in advance.
-
All extra rehearsals are compulsory and are at the student’s expense. We do our absolute best to keep these additional costs as affordable as possible for families.
10. Ballet Exams.
Selah Movement School of Dance offer classical ballet exams in the Cecchetti Method.
Eligibility requirements:

Students must attend two ballet lessons per week, or one ballet lesson per week, along with casual private lessons. If this requirement cannot be met, they will remain in their current level until they are ready to progress.

Exam readiness is assessed and approved by the teacher.
-
Mock exams are provided before the final exam, pending student numbers.*

Exams are held annually in Brisbane.
11. Allergies & Medical Conditions.
All allergies, asthma, medical conditions, or relevant health information must be disclosed upon enrolment and updated as needed.
12. Pick-Up & Drop-Off.

Students under 16 must be collected from inside the studio by their parent or guardian.
-
Students are not permitted to leave the studio without a parent or guardian. If a parent or guardian is running late, the student must remain inside the studio until they are collected, and the parent or guardian must acknowledge the teacher before leaving.
13. Parents & Guardians.

Parents/guardians are not permitted inside the studio during dance lessons.
-
Viewing is available through the designated window where applicable.
-
Families are welcome to watch the final lesson of each term.
14. Lost Property.
-
The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
-
All belongings must be taken home after each lesson, as the venue is shared with other organisations.
15. Private Mentoring Lessons.
-
A minimum of 4 days’ notice is required for cancellation.
-
Late cancellations incur a $25 fee.
16. Dance Attire & Uniform Requirements.
Classical Ballet Uniform
Required for students in Primary to Grade 6 (Adult Beginner Ballet exempt).

Contemporary Uniform

Full-length leggings or fitted exercise pants

Selah Movement School of Dance T-shirt

Grip socks, socks, or foot thongs
Proper attire is required for safety and participation.
17. Basic First Aid, CPR Consent and Ambulance Fees.
By enrolling, consent is given for basic first aid and CPR to be administered to the student if required during dance lessons, rehearsals, photoshoots, or performances at Selah Movement School of Dance. If an ambulance is required, any associated costs will be the responsibility of the student and/or their family.
