Selah Movement School of Dance
Terms and Conditions 

By reading these terms and conditions both parent/guardian and student are agreeing to abide by them. Please read carefully.

CHOREOGRAPHY:

All choreography and music edits remain the property of Selah Movement School of Dance and cannot be replicated or reproduced.

 

FEES AND INVOICES:

Invoices will go out 1-3 weeks before term commencement. All invoices MUST be paid in full within 3 weeks of the invoice date. For any late or overdue fees, there will incur an automated $20 late fee added PER WEEK that the invoice is overdue. Overdue fees are unacceptable and may lead to suspension or expulsion. Payment plans are offered under approval, please contact us to discuss this further. Please notify us before term commences if you know of any dates you are unable to attend your classes and we will void it from your imminent invoice.

STUDIO INFORMATION AND UPDATES:

All students and parent/guardians are responsible for staying up to date with current and future  dance school information. Many avenues are provided to do this; Emails, social media, website etc. Please be sure to check your emails regularly.

CANCELLED CLASSES:

If for some reason the teacher must cancel a lesson, a catch up lesson will be arranged at the earliest convenience.

STUDENT EXPULSION:

If the principal is forced to expel a student under any circumstance. This will be at the Principals discretion.

 

ANNUAL ENROLMENT FEE: 

Upon enrolment each student will pay a $35 enrolment and administration fee regardless of when they enrol in the year. 

 

REFUNDS:

NO refunds will be made for any missed classes. However, if you are unable to attend your class there will be an option for a catch up lesson within the same term of the missed class only. This will be at the Principals discretion. Please let your teacher know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your lesson. If a student is absent due to chronic illness or injury, credit may be offered for the student once they are well enough to return to dance lessons.

ANNUAL DANCE PERFORMANCE:

Each year Selah Movement School of Dance has our annual dance performance. This will be to showcase the hard work and dedication the students have been working on throughout the year. The performance will happen once each year and all dancers are invited to attend. Dancers who are preparing for the performance must strictly commit to their class schedule. Under no circumstances is a student allowed to drop out and cancel before the performance. Please understand this is very disrupting for the other dancers involved.

EXTRA REHEARSAL FEES AND COSTUME FEES:

All dancers preparing for the performance must be aware of the costume fees each year. This is a separate expense to your terms invoice. If any extra lessons are scheduled, this will be at the dancers expense. We will continue to try our best to keep costs down as much as possible where we can.

BALLET EXAMS:

Exams are offered in the Cecchetti Method and all students are encouraged to take an examination at the teachers discretion. All dancers are encouraged to attend two ballet lessons per week, especially if they are working towards their exams. Mock examinations are offered for all students. There is a set uniform for exams, please talk to your teacher about this.

ALLERGIES:

If you or your child have any allergies, E.g. asthma. Please make this known to the teacher.

PHOTOS AND VIDEOS DURING CLASS:

If photos or videos should be taken throughout class by the teacher, they are for business advertisement and marketing only, E.g. social media, business website, flyers etc. Please notify the teacher if you or your child wishes to not be filmed or photographed. Students are not permitted to post choreography from any class unless they have permission from the Principal.

MOBILE PHONES:

Mobile phones are not to be used by students during class and must be switched to silent.

PICK UP AND DROP OFF:

Under no circumstances are students under the age of 16 allowed to exit the studio by themselves.

A parent or guardian must collect the student from the studio and make it known to the teacher that they are being collected. Please understand the safety of our students is very important to us and is our top priority.

 

PARENTS AND GUARDIANS:

Parents/guardians are not permitted to stay inside the studio whilst their child is attending class, and must wait outside until their class has finished. Please understand it is very distracting especially for the little ones. Parents/guardians may watch through the watching window provided. We allow parents to watch the last class of each term.

LOST ITEMS:

Selah Movement School of Dance is not responsible for any lost items. Please understand the studio is a hired space and is often used by other organisations. Please remember to take all of your belongings with you upon exiting the studio.

PRIVATE MENTORING AND CLASSES:

If private classes have been scheduled and you are unable to attend these classes please give at least 4 days notice, otherwise you will incur a $25 fee to cover studio costs.

DANCE ETIQUETTE:

All students must arrive at least 10/15 minutes before their class to be ready and warm. If there is a class already in session please be mindful and quiet while waiting in the waiting area until your class commences. If you are running late please contact the teacher to inform them, once you have arrived, please wait for the teacher to instruct you further. There is a 15 minute grace period after your class has begun. After this, the studio doors will be closed to eliminate any distractions during class time.

 

WARM UP:

Students should always warm up before class commencement. It may lower the risk of injury and improve movement during class. When warming up, it loosens the body, keeping the muscles pliable. The colder you enter physical activity, the more tense the muscles are, and a higher risk of injury and soreness. Warming up before class is the dancers responsibility.

DANCE ATTIRE:

There is a set uniform for all grades at Selah Movement School of Dance. Uniforms can be purchased from Showtime Dancewear on Wises Rd, Maroochydore. Uniform list

CONTEMPORARY: Leggings or exercise pants, SMSD T-shirt, socks or foot thongs.
